What is scalp micro-pigmentation?
Scalp Micro-pigmentation aka "SMP" is currenty the best non-surgical solution for hair loss! At Infinite Follicle, we provide an instant permanent and life-changing treatment where thousands of organic pigments are precisely applied to the scalp to replicate the natural appearance of freshly shaven hair follicles. Whether you want to fill in a scar, a thinning area of your hair, or completely shave your head, SMP will help enhance your look tremendously! You will instantly look 10+ years younger!
At Infinite Follicle, we have mastered the art of SMP with training from years of experience in the industry. We have developed our own unique technique that took many years of practice on thousands of scalps to develop. As a result, we are able to give you the most natural, realistic, and best look possible.
What is the cost?
The cost usually averages around $2500 depending on your scalp size, amount of work needed, and baldness pattern. It’s very easy to get a quote by uploading your pictures and emailing us or call to setup a Free Consultation. We also offer payment plan options if needed.
How long does the treatment take?
Depending on how much work is necessary, our procedure usually takes about 3-4 hours for the first session, 2-3 hours for the second session and 1-2 hours for the third session. Each session is spread out at least 1 week apart. We offer a 1 year guarantee for any softening or touch-ups, and a lifetime guarantee of 50% off any additional treatments desired after the first year. Most clients never need to use this as our procedure will last for many years, but we back our work and take care of all of our clients for life!
Will the pigment used fade or change color?
This is not tattoo ink, this is specially formulated pigment used only for SMP. There is no risk of color turning blue or green. You can minimize fading with the use of quality sun block and proper aftercare. The level of fading will vary from person to person depending on many factors - ethnicity, activity level, blood type, and more. If fading occurs over a long period of time, it maybe be necessary to have additional touch-up procedures. Most clients will not need a touch up for many years and actually prefer their look to soften up as they grow older.
Does it matter what color my hair is?
No we have a pigment tone for all skin and hair types. We strictly use Dermi-Match pigments only! The absolute best in the industry! If your SMP provider's pigment does not have a warming tone in their pigment RUN! Quality is a must at Infinite Follicle and we spare no penny to achieve so!
What is the nearest date that you are available for face-to-face consultation?
Consultations are booked based on availability and location of the client. For those who are not in close proximity, a phone consultation may be provided. Phone consultations are a great way to have your questions answered by our knowledgeable team members while in the comfort of your own home. Clients may also submit images for quotes via email.
If I decide to get the procedure, how soon after the consultation can the procedure be done?
Appointments are based on the availability of our technicians and how many procedures we have scheduled at the time. We strive to accommodate our clients and can usually schedule procedures within a week or two of your initial consultation. (If need be we can work to get you in within days.)
How many days am I required to wait in-between sessions?
Every procedure comes with a standard 2-3 sessions. The first session creates an outline of what is to come, creating the perception of hair follicles spread out throughout the entire scalp. The second session can be scheduled within 7 days and this session fills in density to ensure optimal results while allowing room for small adjustments to the hairline. If needed, the final third session is scheduled by the client within a month of their initial procedure. During this final procedure we do any small detail work where pigment may have not stayed and any other tweaks.
How long does the scalp take to fully heal after the procedure?
Usually, your scalp should be fully healed within a ten days after your procedure. We provide post care guidelines that should be followed for the first week and after that, all we ask is that you protect your scalp with high SPF Sunblock daily. With that said, you should be able to go to work or out to dinner immediately following your procedure. There is no real down time, as this is not a surgery.
Do you offer some sort of guarantee of satisfaction?
At Infinite Follicle, we expect to provide work that exceeds our client’s expectations and its one of the biggest reasons we provide 2-3 sessions within every procedure. If there are any concerns our clients would like to address before, during, and after their procedure, we will be happy to address them accordingly. We have never had one unsatisfied client....yes that's correct, not even one. We take pride in our art, and make sure every client is completely satisfied by the time their final session is complete. We provide a FREE 1 year guarantee, and also give you a lifetime guarantee for 50% off of any desired touch ups down the road.
How long do I have to wait to shave with a razor or clippers?
We recommend waiting at least a week because your scalp is in the healing process and you will not want to interfere with your body’s natural healing process.
What if my scalp is dry?
Please be sure to read and refer to our pre-care and post-care instructions on how to properly care for your scalp before and after your procedure.
We also recommend using Selsun Blue Medicated Strength for pre-care.
I have a pool/hot tub when is it okay to expose my head to chlorine?
Please wait until at least 4 weeks after your final procedure date.
What is the difference between scalp micro-pigmentation and a regular head tattoo?
Although it may be referred to as a hair tattoo, we use pigments not tattoo inks which do not change color after applying like a regular tattoo does. Our needles are inserted into the epidermis of the scalp, which is more controlled and prevents pigment from spreading. We also use single-use hand crafted needles which are 80% smaller than the needles that are commercially sold. Although it may seem like a head tattoo, it’s a completely different art form. You should never allow a “tattoo artist” to work on your scalp. Certified, trained, and experienced SMP technicians have put in thousands of hours of work to learn how to properly duplicate hair follicles. If you are just price shopping, be very careful as you will usually get what you pay for in this business. This is permanent, and it will be on your head for life, so make sure to do your due diligence and choose the right artist and company!
Will anyone be able to tell I have had this treatment done?
The look we provide is unbelievably authentic and realistic. Unless you told them, they will have no clue. Not one client we have treated has been noticed. It actually makes you look much younger with a more natural hair line. Check out our photo gallery. The most common responses are "oh you should shave your head, I like that more" or "something is different, you look a lot younger, what did you do?" But they can never pinpoint what you did exactly.
What is the size of the needle which inserts the scalp and what is the pain level?
Our single point needle is a quarter of the size of a 3-point needle, used by companies that implant pigments using permanent makeup machines. This gives us the advantage of creating the perception of natural follicles that look just like real hair. If you look up very close to our impressions, you can’t tell the difference between the hair and the impressions. The pain level for most clients is a 3 to 5 out of 10. Most people even fall asleep during their procedure. Men and women who have scarring from hair transplants tend to have a little more discomfort due to sensitivity of the scar tissue.
Explain what happens when the pigmentation needle inserts the scalp?
Our follicle shaped needle implants into the epidermis, never reaching the dermis. The skin is made of up a matrix of cross fibers that have Lumen within the cells. The lumens allow the pigment to deposit into the epidermis and stay consistent in size and shape. It is a very precise procedure and takes years of experience to master the feel of exactly how and where to insert each follicle one at a time.
How many 'hair follicle replication's' are achieved in each treatment?
A standard treatment that includes the hairline, front, top and crown with blending can expect to have 15,000 to 25,000 hair follicle replications applied using our point by point placement. In some cases, it may be even more.
What is the estimated price range of this treatment?
We have a range of prices that start at $1,000 for a scar and up to $4,500 for an individual who has Alopecia with no hair at all. Most of our clients have a horseshoe pattern and need a hairline, top, sides and blending. These jobs usually range between $2,500 - $3,500 and are based on the specific needs of each client. The more follicle replications needed, the higher the cost. Keep in mind, we understand that some competitors may offer SMP for a little less, but our prices reflect our expertise and many years of experience in the art of SMP. The lower prices are usually offered by more inexperienced technicians. Be wise when choosing your artist/company, as this will be on your head for life. Saving a $1,000 or so is not worth the headaches you will have to endure for years to come if you just pick an artist based on price. Just like any other kind of art, or really anything in life, you get what you pay for.
Do you reuse needles?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! We NEVER reuse our needles, they are all single-use needles. Every client receives a new needle's at every session.
Can this procedure work on fair skinned people with light brown or blonde hair?
Yes. We have the perfect shade of pigment for all skin and hair tones.
When can I first expose my head to strong sun?
Please wait at least 30 days after your procedure date. We also recommend that you use a sunscreen with SPF 50, or greater, at all times for best maintenance.
I noticed a slight shine, what anti-shine product do you recommend?
Milk of Magnesia, Arrid Extra Dry Cream, or Max Anti Shine Gel are some of the best products.
When can I first wash my head?
2-3 days following your procedure, you can wash your head with water gently. Wait one week before using any products like shampoo, soap, lotion, etc.
My job requires physical labor, will sweating interfere with my healing? Can I go to the gym and workout?
We recommend that you do not sweat until at least 4 days after your procedure. After that, you can sweat lightly, and heavy sweating by day 10.
Can scalp micro-pigmentation disguise scars?
Yes! We blend the scar with the surrounding hair and it becomes much less noticeable. Whether its a small scar or large scar all across your head, we can camouflage them very effectively with our procedure. Please refer to our gallery for before and after photos.
How will I look immediately after the procedure?
There will be redness for the first day or two after treatment. The duration usually depends on your skin type. The pigments initial color will appear darker than the “cured” result, which can take a couple weeks. Meaning your head may slightly have a darker than normal look for a week or two following your treatment, until the pigment starts settling in to give you a more natural look.
What will make my procedure fade?
The answer to this question lies in the individual makeup of each person’s DNA and daily routine. The sun will have a very big impact on the life of the procedure and your individual dermal collagen micro structure as well. Your genetic code has a lot to do with this as well, such as oils in your tissues and the chemical bonds in your skin tissues. Long term sunlight radiation breaks down pigment and the pigment will dissolve into the skin. This could be the difference between your procedure lasting 10 years or only lasting 5 years due to excessive sun exposure. This is why we strongly suggest using a strong, quality facial/head sunblock. It is also the rejuvenation of your skin, your cycle of scabbing, how long it takes your tissues to heal themselves and much more. You have to understand that your body see's the inserted pigment as a foreign object and naturally wants to reject it. This is why we deposit more than other companies using a modified machine. The collagen micro structure acts different for each person, either fading away faster or slower 7 days after the first procedure. This is why we require 2-3 procedures to ensure full coverage due to different variables.
